Farm Fresh School Lunches (from Winter Issue, 2014-2015)

This article is reprinted from the Winter Issue (2014 – 2015), available here. As UVa students, it is sometimes easy to forget that Charlottesville is not just a college town. While college-aged kids mostly dominate the area between JPA and 14th Street, the city beyond here houses many happy families with younger children. With growing advocacy for the local food movement and general health and environmental consciousness, it is no surprise that every public elementary school in the city now operates and…

10 Best Places on the Corner

College students are busy. We are also often quite hungry. And while many would claim our busyness precludes the ability to have tasty and filling meals, I believe these opinions to be balderdash. There are countless places on our very own Corner that offer quick food, with quality ingredients, sold at reasonable prices. You just need to know where to look.

Crooked Trails Grand Opening

Recent UVa graduates Alex Shannon and Chris Zapple have partnered up to make healthy food choices more accessible on Grounds. While studying abroad in the U.K., the two realized their goal of opening a health-conscious food truck. One little known fact to Charlottesville newcomers is that the city ranks 14th on the national list of restaurants per capita, as reported by the Huffington Post. While dining hall food may have its fair share of critics, a stroll to the Corner or a short ride to the Downtown Mall turns that statistic into reality.

Dinners provide great opportunity to get to know professors, fellow students

At college, it can be hard to get to know your professors in a 300-person lecture. More importantly, it can also be hard to find free food. Well, no worries, because this staff writer has solved this problem for you (or rather, for some of you, anyways). For the biggest majors in the college – including but not limited to Chemistry, Biology, Politics, Economics, and Psychology – the College Council-sponsored Major Meals series of events may be a great opportunity to sit…

Berry Berry has Bubbles

For those of you who lived for the delicious bubble tea stationed near the Amphitheatre last year (but seems to have gone incognito since the start of this semester), I have some good news.
